Safety Games for Kids:
Turning Learning into Fun in the City
Dear parents and caregivers,
Our recent visit to the New York Toy Fair brought a refreshing perspective to our mission “Making Safety Fun.” While navigating the bustling streets of the big city, it struck us how nerve-wracking it can be when kids aren't accustomed to urban environments. However, it also dawned on us that this presents a golden opportunity to teach essential big city (or little town) safety to your little ones, all through the magic of games. With the holiday season just around the corner, get ready for a thrilling adventure in both family travel and learning as we explore creative ways to instill safety awareness in your kids while having loads of fun!
Here are 3 super fun games you can play with your kids to to help them become more safety aware:
Safety Bingo:
Create bingo cards with safety-related symbols or scenarios, such as a stop sign, a pedestrian crossing, or a police officer helping someone. Play a game of bingo as you walk through the city, and discuss safety topics when they find a matching item.

Traffic Light Freeze Dance:
Use a traffic light (red, yellow, green) to teach kids about crossing the street safely. Play music and have them dance, but when you call out a color, they must freeze until you say "green" to continue dancing.
I Spy (Safety Edition):
Play a game of "I Spy" with a focus on safety-related objects or behaviors. For example, "I spy something that helps us cross the street safely" (a crosswalk, safety sign, police officer).
Bonus Craft:
Homemade Emergency Bracelets: Make super fun safety bracelets with your kids. Include emergency contact information and any allergies or medical conditions they might have. Teach them when to show it to a trusted adult if they get separated from you.
Thank you, and be safe out there!
